About Matt Voity
Matt Voity: A Head Coach Who Builds Winners—and What Comes Next. Behind every championship team is a coach who sets the standard.
A veteran bench boss with more than 20 years of experience across professional, junior, and NCAA hockey, Voity has built his reputation as a head coach who demands accountability, develops relentlessly, and delivers results. His teams don’t just compete—they’re structured, prepared, and built to win.
During his tenure as General Manager, Head Coach, and Goaltending Director of the Danbury Hat Tricks from 2019 to 2025, Voity established one of the most respected programs in independent professional hockey. The defining moment came in 2022–23, when he guided Danbury to the FPHL Championship—cementing his ability to lead a locker room through the grind of a full season and into a title run.
But what separates Voity isn’t just the banner—it’s the culture behind it.
As a head coach, he is known for creating disciplined, team-first environments where players are held to a high standard while being given the tools to succeed. From managing the bench and in-game adjustments to running detailed pre-scouts and post-game breakdowns, Voity brings a complete, modern approach to coaching. His practices are fast, intentional, and designed to translate directly into game situations.
His leadership extends beyond wins and losses. Under Voity, Danbury became a true development pipeline, with players advancing to the NCAA, SPHL, ECHL, and AHL. Goaltenders, in particular, flourished under his guidance —earning league honors and moving on to the next level—but his impact was felt across the entire roster.
Before his time in Danbury, Voity sharpened his craft at the NCAA level with stops at Yale University, American International College, UMass Amherst, and Connecticut College. These experiences helped shape his ability to connect with players, manage elite environments, and understand the demands of advancing athletes to higher levels of the game.
A graduate of Western Connecticut State University with a degree in Psychology, Voity brings a player-centered, detail-driven philosophy to the bench—blending communication, accountability, and performance insight into everything he does.
In today’s game, where development and results must go hand in hand, Matt Voity stands out as a head coach who delivers both—building teams that win now while preparing players for what comes next.
